Character Profile
Name: Alexi Volkov
Current Story: None
Description: -Name: Alexi Volkov -Hero Name: The Arctic Fox -Age: 42 -Height: 6'2" -Gender: Male -Hair: Black -Sayings: "You know, bomb. Like grenade. But bigger." "I shoot you, stop moving. Simple, da? -Powers: Energy dissipation, (This takes the form of an area of effect where the ambient energy inherent in all objects is absorbed by Alexi, freezing all affected objects and people. The energy is not used to fuel attacks, but is shunted into the battery of his combat suit. Primarily useless, but can be handy if used on unaware targets unlikely to notice the slow drop in temperature.) The Eye, (While only retaining the use of a single eye, the capabilities therein more than make up for the lack. He possesses a greater sight acumen than that of a bird of prey, and actually has limited infravision without the use of his helmet. It takes an extended period of concentration to bring this ability to bear, however.) Extreme reflexes, (Alexi's shooting record was among the top when he was with the Soviet army, and has only improved since then, despite his impairment. He is incredibly quick on the draw, and his reaction times are far greater than the human norm.) Armored Suit, (Crafted of enhanced titanium, powered by an array of lithium power cells, and sporting enough built in weaponry and equipment to give any street gang pause before attacking, the suit was the pinnacle of Alexi's engineering career with the Soviet army. In light of his current career, he has added some non-lethal weaponry and enhanced the tracking capability of his sensor suite. The helmet contains a communications unit activated by a tongue switch, the operational channel of which is controlled via a control panel on his right gauntlet, a 360 degree array of visual sensors tied into a voice activated display monitor, low-light and infrared filters for the viewplate, and a breathing tube connected to a five minute oxygen supply in the suit. The weapons built into the armor include dart launchers in the elbows, which can be loaded with a variety of toxic darts and set to activate on pressure [one of Alexi's favourite tricks... elbow someone in the chest and leave them staggering away with two darts worth of hemotoxic venom in their chest] or on a trigger in the glove of each hand, a net launcher on the left guantlet, activated by yet another glove trigger, and a shoulder mounted arc launcher. [essentially a Taser on steroids, and without the wires.]His personal arsenal includes several military grade weapons. His primary weapon for extended range operations is the SVDR Novaya Dragunov, an upgrade of the Dragunov sniper rifle modified to fire titanium APDS rounds. The bore of the rifle is increased, and the magazine capacity reduced to seven rounds to accomodate the greater cartridge size. He also possesses a Stechkin automatic pistol, several submachine guns and handguns, with and without suppressors, a Kalashnikov AKMS assault rifle, and a modified Kalashnikov PKM light machine gun. His arsenal is exclusively Russian, and predominantly Kalashnikov; he bears a great respect for Mikhail Kalashnikov himself.) -History: Born a child to two Siberian exiles, Alexi was assigned to the guard's motor pool as a mechanic when he was only twelve. Although it was primarily a punishment detail, he learned quickly, and by the age of 16 the guards trusted him enough to work alone. He began to take advantage of this and began bringing home scrap to tinker with. He eventually built a single-shot pistol, nothing more than a glorified zip gun, but in his excitement, he decided to try and escape with his newfound weapon. Five minutes out, he heard the dogs coming... and he only had one shot. He decided to climb a tree, and was soon caught. He was cold, but the guards declined to give him any warm clothes. But as he shivered, the guards began to shiver, despite their huge coats. They moved slower and slower, and the dogs lay down and whined. Alexi suddenly felt warmer... the guards slumped to the ground, succumbing to severe internal hypothermia. The dogs were already dead. Alexi watched in horror as the guards were drained of all body heat. As this happened, the snow around him began melting... When he came back to his senses, he stripped the coat off one of the guards, whose body was already stiff, and took his rifle, setting off into the woods. He became an engineer in the Soviet Army and learned his craft just as quickly as he had in Siberia. During this time he spent a short time working with Mikhail Kalashnikov and developed a great respect for the famous gunsmith. He began to work on special projects for the KGB and the GRU, although neither would admit he worked for themselves or the other. When he created the suit, the GRU sent agents to sieze the suit and kill Alexi. Alexi managed to draw down on one and shoot him dead, but the second got off two shots before Alexi could drop him. The shots missed, but had hit close enough to mangle his right eye with fragments of shattered concrete from the wall. Alexi searched the agents, and although he found no identification, he had two guesses where they were from... And he knew neither would give up easily. He disappeared. Since the former USSR refuses to admit he ever existed, and the USA was suspicious of his intentions and tried several times to bring him in for questioning, he really has no place to go. He works freelance when he can, moving when the heat rises. The nature of his armor and weapons makes people highly suspicious... Posession of an AKMS is highly suspicious in these times, being primarily a terrorist weapon. His weak command of the Egnlish language adds to suspicion, resulting in a situation where he rarely leaves his suit, not bothering to take up a civilian life. He has difficulty obtaining spare parts and ammunition, and is slowly running out of batteries. While he can recharge them by tapping ambient energy, like all batteries, they can only be recharged so many times.
