I'm starting the process of redesigning storycrafter.com. You can follow along as I chronicle the journey here: http://dmalive.tumblr.com/

Colour me curious...

I suppose since it's being redesigned, there's no way to port the old games over to the new site?

Hmm, still too early to tell about that right now. Once the data-models are created I'll have a better idea. My gut reaction though is, not likely - just because the number of significant changes I'm planning on implementing. But if there is a real demand for it - I'll put my noggin to work and see. Smiley

I suppose we could move a story to the new site and LINK to the original site for the earlier posts.

Yes, the old site isn't going anywhere so you could reboot into the new site and link to the older one for previous posts. Or you could just keep using the older site. It's up to you.

OOH! ooh ooh ooh! Grin

I watched the video, and this really sounds cool. Can't wait to see where the redesign goes, and for me it's fairly exciting to see a site this extensive and important starting from scratch.

Down with the table, up with the Grid? It sounds daunting to start from scratch, but I would think it would minimize the amount of code you won't have to go through to dig out the glitches, right?

I used the 960 grid for my student portfolio site - http://960.gs/ - but the grid markup needs to be rewritten because I copy-pasted, and I don't like that I don't know all of it. www.channain.com.

A whole blog/RP rewrite though? d00d. There's an undertaking. Good on you - and good scripting.

Oh, and I'd be willing to copy Trail of Stars over to the new site, if you're in need of a beta tester.

Glad to see you're excited. I've sorta developed a neurosis about programming over the years, so recoding storycrafter is like therapy for me since I'm in complete control of it. Unlike most projects where I just have to deal with whatever hand I'm dealt.

As for the layout - I'm not sure what it'll end up being but it will be simpler and easier to read. I'll post more about that on my blog when I get to that point. You'll find that I'm pretty opinionated about stuff like that.
