Hey, I was looking for play by email games on another site and found this site. very interesting.  I'm interested in joining a game.  My interests include Fantasy, Steampunk, Horror, and Apocalypse style stories.  I'd be down for pretty much anything if the storyteller was crafty.  Not sure which games here are the most active or which storytellers are currently looking for someone new so I figured I'd just toss this out there.

About Me:

I'm 38 years old and began playing Basic D&D when I was 12.  I continued through AD&D up until my mid to late 20's, with a smidgeon of Top Secret, Call of Cthulu, GuRPs, Paranoia, and various others before my core gaming group all moved to different parts of the US.  I then entered the world of MMO's in 1997 with Ultima Online, and have tried just about every one of them and continue to beta test new ones in hope of finding something akin to what I discovered with UO in 1997.  I'm currently disappointed in the crop of MMO's out there and am looking for the fun that I used to experience when I played pen and paper games.  I have a young daughter and a hectic schedule so I can't find time to join a face to face game in my area.

I am a Tattoo Artist located just outside Chicago, and need some mental stimulation that goes beyond watching Yo Gabba Gabba with my little girl.

you can contact me via the pms on this board, as a reply to this topic, or via my email at sickboy667@hotmail.com

thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome 815 Smiley

This is a marvelous place to meet people with similar interests and to interact in a creative fashion. There are good stories and even if you find something (active) that does not appear to be openly casting at the time, it does not hurt to send the StoryCrafter a message with an idea and see what they think.

Good place to start is to find active stories that appeal to you and read a bit--see what people are doing and how they are doing it. There are different styles of play here and a LOT of creativity. Some friendly folks too.

Grab some coffee or the beverage of your choice, a comfortable chair and take a dip into the writer's pool. The water's fine.

is there anyway to read the stories that are currently going on? I mean besides the prologue?  I'd like to see which storycrafters writing and group I'd fit in with best, but i haven't really seen a way to check the current storyline.

Some stories will have their game threads open to the public, while others might have them visible only to the cast (or not have any up yet, if they are just beginning).  I would suggest that you click on the "More New Stories >" link on the front page, as that shows you the recently crafted stories, as well as the ones that have been updated a short time ago.  Not all of them will necessarily be open to new players (i.e. the "Join The Cast" option will be absent), but if you see something you like and ask politely to read the material and possibly join, SCs are often happy to oblige and consider new cast members.  Depends on the exact story, really.

Good luck!  Hope you find something you like! Smiley

Welcome to SC, 815.  As Merzedes and Archaeogirl have already commented, I'd just like to add that when perusing the stories, when specific acts have not been updated in a while, they 'fall off' the board, so to speak.  Simply click on the 'show all acts' link, and they will appear.  Many stories here will simply use different threads for different things, whether that is to denote a different location within the story, or more likely, a new chapter.  Some are easier to follow than others, but to each their own, aye?  Good luck in finding a story that suits your style.
