http://www.storycrafter.com/story/index.php?storyid=4691The Tavern...
Sitting on the shore of a lake at the crossroads of a major trade route in the middle of the wilderness, stands a tavern, inn, arena, and much, much more. No cities, towns, or villages are nearer than a half-day carriage ride away, although travelers are constantly passing by on their way to one place or another.
It's where nefarious bandits hide out. It's where people stop in their travels and end up staying. Maidens meet their warrior husbands. It's where mage-hopefuls practice their spells. It's where legends come to rest, and where they are made.
There are caves nearby, monsters in the woods, kept at bay by a mysterious magic that no one understands. Yet, Ogden, the bartender and owner, keeps a tight ship. Fights are kept to the arena outside, unsolicited attentions are dealt with. Rooms are free, drinks and food are not. Can you leave once you enter? Will you find your destiny? Enter and find out.
[This is a freeform role play. The only real rules (above and beyond common sense) are that your character must be mortal and some rules about player vs player fights, if any. Also, the Tavern workers will all be NPCs, and all played by me.]
