And of what would the modified background consist?
I've seen some pretty crazy hacks on the FATE mailing list; a lot of them add far too much crunch for my taste, given the flat-out ease of the basic system.
So far, any SotC games I've been in have fallen apart. In one, the GM just disappeared. (I was really enjoying my character, too.) In the other, the GM only disappeared for about two weeks without warning, but he wasn't very good at weaving a story or dealing with unexpected actions, and by the time he showed up again, I'd lost interest in the character. I handed it to him to use as an NPC with my blessings. (I'd tried to use an idea I'd had, but it hadn't worked out terribly well in the end. I wanted to play Bertie Wooster, and ended up more with Jeeves.)
The last SotC game is the one I run in meatspace, a Girl-Genius-inspired steampunk setting that hasn't run in over a month, ever since one of our players got a new job with an extra 1.5 hour commute each way.
I do love the system, though. So very elegant, and I like the elements of player control.
(BTW, classy, that whole replying just to announce how little you know of the system, without even a "What is it?" tacked on to give the post a reason. Two thumbs up.)
