Over the weekend, the SC of a story I was in decided to delete it.  The story had at least five active members, but he pulled the plug with no warning.

I'd like to see a feature where upon electing to Delete the story, the story isn't Deleted, but marked for deletion.  Perhaps the SC might be required to complete a field (or even select a reason from a list), giving a reason for the game's termination.  Then the system can post this to the Home page for the story:

This story has been marked for deletion.  It will automatically be removed in 72 hours.  The StoryCrafter has indicated the following as the reason:

"Sorry, guys... I've realized I have no idea what to do next with this game.  I'd rather be an ass than an idiot, so I'm deleting it now."

At the very least, it will give writers a chance to copy anything they might want to save into an offline document.

I second this motion.

Perhaps also add a way for any existing player to take control as the SC during this time period too?

I agree with this.  Is there any way for the SC of a story to turn over the SC status to another player, too?  We can't accept new characters without asking him to log on and bring them in.

I believe if someone in the cast is made a PA, then they can add new cast members.

Sorry, but that's just not the case.  A PA can add his or her OWN characters, but only the SC can accept new applicants.

Is this still the case?  Because I can't imagine a reason NOT to allow the SC to transfer the story to a new SC.  They don't have to use it, but no wonder so many stories disappear without trace if there is no other option.

In fact I might go even further than the original suggestion.  An SC should not be able to delete a story without the cast's majority consent.  Players might want to continue on their own, even without SC or PA powers, or at least have some time to chat with each other and make other arrangements.
