The only problem I can see is that people might have a problem with me controlling the background of their characters... but that, unfortunately, is unavoidable for the plot to work. The story relies a lot on the characters finding things out about themselves and their past and how they react to it, their powers will not be that important to me however of course it is up to the characters what they do with what is given to them Wink

This is the biggest problem I see as well. I like to have more control over my character than that.

Do you think the secrecy is absolutely necessary? There's a difference between having things the players don't know and having things the characters don't know. I'm in favor of having things the characters don't know, but I like to know them myself. I generally don't have trouble separating my knowledge and that of my character.

I've been known to compromise -- to give the SC a broad outline of my background and let them add details, though usually it's a more of a back and forth discussion.

Unfortunately I think it would be necessary... If someone is absolutely uncomfortable with it I could let them write a background with a few bits that are absolutely necessary - though I would be curious as to what they are scared about as this wouldn't take away the not-knowing-feeling.

As I said, the story wouldn't really be a mutants-go-superhero kind of game but always more about the 'am I really who I think I am or who I am told that I am?' (as is hinted on in the prologue) So, what is it that worries you (for example) that you want to write a background yourself? Smiley (I am not mocking you, just asking)

Just saw your post in that other thread (how to get people to play your game or the likes), and unfortunately I do promise surprises ... at least I hope they will be. Smiley

There's nothing wrong with the concept you're suggesting or even with keeping a lot of secrets -- in fact, it's a very interesting idea. I just don't think it's the game for me.
