Storycrafter does not allow users to upload character images to the site image archives at this time.  Any unsanctioned and unauthorized images found in the image archive will be deleted.

We do hope to return the image upload feature to our users in the future.

Thank you.

How about a work around so folks can use html (or something)to insert the desired photo in the avatar spot?

Might be better than not allowing any new pics until the issue is resolved?

Hmmm... That's an interesting idea, though I have no idea how feasible it is. Presumably the SC could host the image in their Images section for the player.

As it stands, one can simply utilize the BLANK character portrait, or a neutral one, and HTML-insert their own picture into the start of the post itself.

Simplicity.  I did it for a game I was in, and regularly do it as a GM.

The blank character portrait is number 23.

I believe the only way for the SC to access the private section of the character sheet is through the link built into the character portrait, which doesn't work if you use the blank image.

I know that along with inserting an image into a post or the character description it should be possible to use the image as a link to the full character sheet, but I'm not sufficiently skilled in html to know how to do it. Does anyone happen to know?

Not quite sure on that, but a simple workaround is for the SC to create a private act for the player with their charcter sheet as the first post.  The SC should be sure to post it as the player, however, so both SC and player have access to it and can edit it as needed. : )

Personally I find it quite interesting that individuals that have been given such a priviledge as to be moderators of this site would be so against the users of this site obviously trying to help them with images.

I have not been a member of this site for a long time, but longer than some, less than others, but I know when I joined the archive was largely a joke, yes there where a few quality pictures and I whole heartedly understand having pictures that can be universally accepted as proper for all ages.  However, I would find it pretty safe to bet that the images you deem unsactioned where by far better than what had been used by most of us. If I where lucky enough to be honored with the priviledge to run the gallery archives, which by that way I would accept if offered. I think there are a few things that could be utilized, including the usage of the number 23 as mentioned.  While dupicates are a problem with any file system..perhaps the biggest issue would be the lack of time that I would imagine the moderators of this site appear to have to maintain it.

I am not attempting to cause an argument or anything of that nature, but as stated above..I think we should thank those that try to make this a better site, not strong arm them into doing things as a select few see fit. I know of a few loyal members of StoryCrafter that would jump at the chance to moderate it, or even assist in that endeavor. I myself would run the gallery single handedly just to get it running on some level again.

It can't just be 'run' by moderators at this point. There needs to be an overhaul to how it works. The Founder doesn't have a lot of time to spend here, running this free site for everyone's use. Some day, these things will be handled. But if they never are, having thousands of pictures to choose from isn't really a bad thing.

A couple of the pictures that have been added (and deleted) by people were already in the system. That's what we're mostly trying to prevent.

The whole thing needs to be re-organized. I know some of the moderators (myself especially) would love to run it in a way where people submit the pictures they want uploaded and we either reject them or accept them, putting them in their proper categories (categories need updating, too.)

Some day.

For myself, I'm hesitant to start fiddling with code without The Founder's permission. It's his site, after all.

That said, we already have an expert in database code as an active admin on the site. He not only could do the work on the code needed, but is enthusiastically willing to. And a couple of us are very willing to be the ones to receive the pics and go through them.

I think it's been a matter of getting The Founder to say, 'go.' I will bring it up though.

Thanks for your suggestions.
