So today, out of the blue it seems, the format for posting on SC acts was changed. At first, I thought "Pretty sweet". Some more options to play with seems pretty nice.

However, for some reason the advanced chat editting doesn't seem to post. The simple one will, with absolutely no options involved.

Anything being done to fix this? or am I just going crazy?

Thanks for your time.

Oh, that explains it.  I thought I was going crazy, when my words kept disappearing.  Bizarre and rather disheartening.

All I can say is that the Founder is working on things.  =/  We'll probably see a lot of changes over the next few weeks.  Hopefully all for the better. : ).  Keep posting issues, though, as they come up, and he'll get around to solving them. :)

The Loft Members have also mentioned issues.

The new Advanced Edit Control is cool and flashy and everything, but it causes a serious lag time in loading the posting window, which ispretty inconvenient for those of us who are trapped in the dark ages of dial up on a late-model iMac computer. Yeah, that would be me, but the iMac was free.

Others have experienced the posting troubles with Advanced Edit Control. They can't post in Advanced Edit - they have to go to Simple Edit Control anyway.

Could the Simple Edit Control be the default instead of Advanced Edit?

I agree: Simple edit controls should be defaulted until the bugs are worked out of the advanced, or defaulted normally. it does take some time to load, and someone with a dial-up connection will have some issues.

I think it will be a nice thing to have more options (especially a copy/paste that you can right click select instead of having to cntrl+v/c all the time :) ), but until the bugs are worked out, seems as though it's going to be a Simple chat world :)

Founder, i think it's awesome that you're going to 'upgrade' SC, kinda like the fudge on the sunday. it's already a sweet deal, but that makes it even more appealing.

Nicely put Cade. :)

I think most of you will find that the issues witht he advanced edit controls have been fixed.  Also, those using Firefox hadn't experienced any troubles, as far as my little test group is concerned (ie, the other mods).

Also, I am on dial-up as well at home (althogh the PC itself is fairly new) and although it was a little more labor intensive in terms of load-up, it only took about 15 seconds or so.  I know, an eternity for the internet, but look at it this way...bathroom or fridge break. ;)

Almost all the problems with the advanced editing controls have been worked out. For those on dialup - I understand your frustration, using the simple control will eliminate your slow load time, and you only have to select it once per session. As it remebers your selection as long as you stay logged in.

I will also look into making simple the default.

Maybe you could look into a way to set a default preference?  I don't want to have to select Advanced every time I login any more then some want to have to select Simple.

The new Advanced Edit Control is kind of cranky in the Safari browser.

Like it won't keep my line breaks. I had to put in html codes for paragraphs.

Editing causes little spasms and ceizures.

Could also be that I'm on Dial up right now and the iMac is in excruciating pain.

That default preference sounds pretty cool.

And I don't like how it auto-double spaces the lines. I'm usually actively removing that from transcripts when I copy/paste story posts into Word.

Actually, I don't like much of anything that tries to be too "Helpful". That's my main issue with recent versions of MS Word. That and the paper-clip assistant is just plain creepy.

Now that some of the kinks are out, the new formatting feature is growing on me.

Being able to post using a table has become handy.

I like being able to re-sise the pictures I import.

The color palette still takes time to load and doesn't have ALL the colors, but there's enough to get by. The rest I can get from Webmonkey and are still usable with HTML codes.

The feature itself still takes time to load, but I'm finding myself being more patient with it.

<3 The non-bugged Advanced edit controls.

This stuff is great! I can't even begin to go on about it. Thanks Founder and crew for all the additions!
