This is a basic synopis of The Forever People which I'm hoping to run on SC if there is enough interest (4 - 6 people if possible):

* * *

"Who are you?"

They have always been among us... they are destined to live forever... to guard over the rest of us... to protect us.

They were inspiration for Greek myths... their names are found in Egyptian hyroglyphics... they were present at the dawn of each new century. They are The Forever People.

When a group of strangers are reunited in California by a psychologist intrigued by the similarities between their recurring dreams, they discover that they have more in common than expected. Each of them has met before, each of them have lived since the dawn of time and each of them has abilities no human being should have. They are Forever People but, for some reason, they have forgotten...

* * *

The narrative of this story would take place in several different time zones. Beginning in the present day, every other act would take place at some point in the past (as a flashback) as the characters begin to recall events from their lives. In doing so, they will not only discover just who they really are but they will remember why they forgot their past lives and why - in the year 2007 - they will be needed more than ever.

Feel free to ask if you want any more details.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm hoping that each modern day section will end with some sort of cliff-hanger which will not be resolved until after the 'flashback' act has concluded. Each of the 'flashback' acts will, even though they'll be set in different times, still forward the plot along as certain characters and themes reappear.

It'll be largely freeform but I'm working on a very basic statistic system to ensure that everyone is equal in power.

I've been a bit vague about the storyline of the game here but hopefully everything will become clear as the game progresses and the characters begin to recall their past actions.

You caaaaan't resist Merzedes! :)

I'm glad others like the premise. It came from a short story I wrote in which a cop arrested a man for identity theft. As they travelled in the police car, the two began to talk and gradually realised that they had once been Thor and Loki.

Thanks Nariel!

Well, I think there's enough interest to convince me to finalise everything and get it up over the weekend.

A question - would [we] develop our own 'past' character or our present one and YOU decide the other.

If I were interested, you understand ;)

Oh no, of course I'd let the players decide their past personas - it's more fun that way! Each 'flashback' act would begin with a setup by myself explaining what has happened to lead the characters to where the flashbacks begin.

I'll be listing the three 'flashback' episode settings in the Rules page of the game so players can begin thinking about who their character might have been in those time periods when they create their characters.

Sounds cool.  What kind of "abilities" are we talking about, though?  I mean, what style?  Big and bold, like fire-spewing kind of flashy, or more subtle?

Intriguing. I'll keep an eye out for it on the main page.

To answer your question Bloodgod, the Forever People have tapped into the cosmic energy of the universe and have learnt to channel this ability over the centuries to give themselves god-like powers. Some have learnt how to use this ability to make themselves stronger or faster whilst others can influence the cosmic energies inherant in the world around them - to summon fire from nowhere, to change the weather, to transform their bodies to iron. Basically, think x-men and you're there.

I should add that in the first act, you will have no powers whatsoever. Well, that is a slight lie... you will have power but you won't realise it or understand how to use it. In the second act (which will be a flashback to the past), the character will be able to use all of their powers. When the game returns to the present in the third act, the characters will have remembered how to use their first power. This will continue until the characters have access to all of their powers in the present.

I'm still in the process of putting the finishing touches to the game and plot but should have it up either Saturday or Sunday.

When I first read your premis, it made me think of this.

Quote
There is a basis for all myth.  For whatever evil creatures that have ever harmed man, there is a basis in truth.  We are that truth.
 Me, written for How Dark is Thy Blood.

Although your Forever People are not 'evil', they bear a partial resemblence to my Kindred - who would fear and loathe them I'm thinking.

Probably what drew me to this game. ;D
