Okay, I'm working on an RP. The game has sort of a Hellboy/Diablo/Spawn flavor to it. Basically, Armageddon is approaching, and the opposed armies are gathering the troops. Warriors are being raised from the dead as Revnants (example: Spawn), humans are joining the battle (Diablo-esque characters), and demons & angels are naturally jumping in. The actual battle is still a long ways off, but the troops clash in minor skirmishes constantly. My stat system is simple, and is more of a guidline than a rules system, since this is freeform RP'ing.
There are 2 stats: Magic & Physical. Each has 3 substats (Physical: Strong, Tough, and Quick; magic: Offensive, Defensive, and Utility), and normally falls between 1 and 10. The substats may be given a + or - to represent that you may be faster than you are strong, or whatever (character example to follow). More advanced characters and some races have different stat limits, and magic may be a 0 (some characters just have no magical ability). New characters get 10 points to spilt up as they see fit. Each character also gets to pick special attacks or abilities (someone making a Revnant who died from radiation might be able to use Radiation against his foes, for example, while an angel might be able to heal his allies), subject to approval by me and whoever I pick to help run this.
The available races are:
-Demon/Angel: --Lesser: Lesser Demons & Angels come in 2 types: physical and magical. This determines their primary stat. The primary stat must be 6 or higher, while the secondary stat must be 4 or lower. An example of a Lesser Demon (Physical) would be Hellboy. --Greater: Greater demons often have limited shapechanging abilities, typically one magically powerful form and one physically powerful one. These forms have the same limitations as a Lesser demon. Those that don't have these abilties have no limit on their secondary stat's maximum score, though the primary must still be higher. Angels rarely have the shapechanging ability, but it is not unheard of. An example of a Greater Demon is Clown, from Spawn. (note: greater demons/angels will most likely reserved for NPC's)
-Revnant: Revnants are humans, usually warriors, whom have been raised from the dead to join the war. They almost always side with the army that raised them, but they were human, and retain a small measure of free will. They tend to have a better balance between physical abilities and magical talent than Demons and Angels, and most rely heavily on their special abilities. They have a minimum magic score of 1, as they are inherantly bound to the magic which raised them. Their abilities and weaponry are often based on life as a human, but this is not a set rule. Example: Spawn.
-Creature: A monster in the classic sense, these are the stuff of nightmares. The forces of Hell have always commanded legions of these, but their opponants have their own. They all have a maximum magic score of 4. Exceptions can be made in special cases, if the creature in mind is magically powerful. Examples: dragons, unicorns, werewolves, and the boogyman.
Human: The humans joining the War are the greatest talent the mortal world has to offer. The Age of Rationality is done, and humanity is slowly forgetting technology. Men have rediscovered magic, though few have the gift. The rest either await the outcome of Armageddon or take up arms to help decide their own fate.
The stats are primarily for comparison purposes, and the game will be mostly freeform, meaning that good RP skills will be much more important. Also, the game will be less guided, so the players will have a greater degree of freedom. Basically, I'll set the stage and let you loose.
