In the year 2042, a group of terrorists known as The Crimson Tide does the unthinkable - a terrifying virus is unleashed into the Earth's atmosphere killing almost 60% of the planet's population within a matter of months. Of those who remain, almost one third suffer hideous side-effects which causes them to mutate...

The year is now 3012 and the world has been forever changed. Cities stand as crumbling reminders of happier times, the landscape has become a desolate wasteland and dangerous bandits lie in wait to steal fuel and supplies from those who are not wary enough.

For the people of New Hope - a small town of survivors outside of Las Vegas - hope comes in the form of a medicine, stumbled upon by the town's local doctor, which contains the means to combat the effects of the virus. With no means of reproducing the formula, the council of New Hope elect to send a vial of the medicine to Shiny Town; the most fortified settlement in America and the home of the country's greatest scientific minds.

A small group is elected to drive the Dodge Interceptor; a large black van outfitted with various weapons, to Shiny Town. But to get there, the group will be forced to make it through miles of road and dust. They will face mutants, bandits and the ever-present threat of The Church; an army of murderers and criminals lead by a madman who wants the formula only for himself and those who worship him...

As yes..... actually I hadn't heard of that particular novel/film. The inspiration for the game is the Joe Denver Freeway Warrior books (and, of course, Mad Max).

I should mention that I'd be looking for around five characters including (obviously) a driver, a mechanic and a gunslinger of sorts.

Characters can be standard humans, mutants (although these characters will be subdued versions of those found in the outside world - perhaps they are physically mutated but still remain their humanity and intelligence) or synthetic humans (a number of androids were released several years before the holocaust).

The game would also feature a Fuel rating which would decrease gradually forcing the characters to attempt regular refuelling missions (either at an abandoned gas station or through trading with others).

I'm also playing with the idea that each character might have their own vehicle...
