Okay, I figure I ought to get some feedback on this brainstorm before I start pouring time into it.

I wanted to do something quasioriginal and I haven't seen any stories based in the Metroid universe. What I envision won't center totally on Samus Aran as the games have, though she will obviously be a major player.

So let me know what you all think. I must request that you refrain from throwing anything hard, as I bruise easily. :S

Could you explain this for those of us who've never heard of it?  Or is this a game wherein players *must* know the background?

Ah, of course. My apologies. I sometimes forget that the Metroid franchise is not as well-known as it ought to be.

Metroid began as a video game for the now antiquated NES system. It has since become a flagship series for Nintendo, and for good reason.

The games are intergalactic adventures centering primarily on the exploits of a female bounty hunter named Samus Aran and her repeated encounters with a life-leeching alien organism known as Metroids. These are usually accompanied by another, sentient group called Space Pirates. Samus' employer is usually an interstellar governing body similar to the UN called the Galactic Federation. While they do have a fighting force (the Federation Police), they tend to be ineffectual in dealing with Metroids and other unusual threats.

By no means is Samus the only bounty hunter in the galaxy. It's a big cosmos and if players wish to play the role of another 'Hunter', that is doable. My basic intent is to turn the tables, with Samus disappearing on a mission and a company of Federation Police/Hunters forming a search and rescue effort.

I plan to have much more information regarding individual races, locations, organizations etc. on the story page. I will also happily answer any questions asked of me.
