This was an original horror game that I created in the early days of Storycrafter. It died because of inactivity and so far I've been trying to recreate it with other games. I keep the cast low because I don't want everyone (which was like eleven people) to be disappointed when it is closed down because of posting. Now, with Flicker Noise, I realize that it would work better if there was a larger cast and something more solid to tie them together.
I have rethought it and mentally added so much to the original story, which you probably are all wondering as I get out of my nostalgia. The original story was that there were college students going for a last-year ski trip (all years allowed to go, dur) with two teachers present to look after them for this. On the bus trip there, there is a mass hallucination (for those who do remember it I won't repeat and for those who haven't, I don't want to spoil it as I'll probably use it again) and everyone returns to the reality.
The bus driver is killed mysteriously -- or rather seems that way if anyone would look (*wink*). Now, everyone is stranded on a deserted stretch 30 miles away from the city and who knows how many from the ski lodge. Additionally, as I may have forgotten to say, this is ALL in broad daylight.
Hypothermia and injuries from the crash are becoming serious issues. Then, they are saved; a young man driving along this stretch offers them a lift to his bed-and-breakfast home -- that is now out of commission because of how far it is away from the city. Only people who are there are those who are in same situations; caught up with the storm or crashed on the curvy roads. The man doesn't say that he'll take money from them because they have wounds. And apparently has a personal doctor of the family that would be willing to help.
So, what else could they do? Freeze to death waiting for a car to come? Or give directions to the house and stay warm until help arrives? The latter is obviously chosen and everyone piles into his car to drive to the mansion-like home. There they meet the unusual family that he keeps (which for purposes are going to be toned down as they were really BLARGH! XD!).
The personal doctor helps them with all their aches and pains, just happy that they were able to survive. Of course, the house isn't as it should be and neither is the family. The storm rises and phone calls delayed. Eventually, the group has to stay the night. Then, as midnight strikes, the house and the family changes.
So, who is interested in helping me create this story once more? With a new family, new plans for the house -- as I was horrifically vague before (I admit it) -- and old and new horror elements?
