Excuse me if this question has been asked before, but why not set it up so that someone can use an image hosted elsewhere as their character avatar? All this fiddling with a gallery comes across as an overly complicated solution to a simple problem.

We have standards for this site: for example, no nude pics, and no half-nude pictures. It would be impossible to regulate that if people are linking off-site.

Which reminds me, one of the duplicate images I mentioned a couple posts ago (9245/9237), which I notice is still in the gallery, is pretty nude looking -- you can definitely tell she's topless.
The duplicate images are (posted again):

9245 on pg 540 and 9237 on pg 539 (The eyes are actually slightly different colors.)

8932 on pg 507, 8328 on pg 464 and 8711 on pg 500

8695 on pg 498 and 8429 on pg 474

8713 on pg 488 and 8694 on pg 498

Happy to help. It's not much more trouble to keep track of them as I look through the gallery and I'm in favor of anything that might possibly let us upload pictures again sooner.

Here's a few more.

320 pg 26 and 83 pg 7 seem identical.

1398 pg 116 is a blurrier version of 1413 pg 117.

6510 pg 201 is a cropped, blurrier version of 7001 pg 355.

That was quick!

I'll keep track of these.  At present, we're not deleting any because...well, some people have been sneaking pics on, and when I delete, it's harder to track that.  -_-

We're still working on the portrait problem, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel, now.

Makes sense not to delete them in a case like that. Apparently some people have less ethics and more know-how than I, because I only have the faintest idea how to go about doing that and wouldn't do it even if I knew how.

Glad to hear there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Getting the opportunity to upload pictures again would be great.

Most likely, we'll be handling it as a submission process. You submit, we judge and determine whether to accept or not. That will cut out a lot of the problems with duplicates, out-of-focus, text on the picture,  and inappropriate pics problems.

However, as long as the pictures are of decent quality and within the standards of SC, there shouldn't be problems with getting submissions accepted! :)

Yes.  It's amazing how people feel they're entitled to break the rules, isn't it?
